Introducing He Whitianga

Elevating cross-cultural connection through written and visual language.

Tiro whānui  Overview

We developed this model to help organisations create more meaningful and authentic cross-cultural engagement in an Aotearoa context. The model is built upon Te Tiriti ō Waitangi, the founding kaupapa of Aotearoa New Zealand, and acknowledges the rights and responsibilities of Māori as Tāngata Whenua (People of the Land) and all other populations as Tāngata Tiriti (People of the Treaty).

In practise, this means our He Whitianga model grows first from a recognition of the whenua we live upon, the guardians of that land, then grows outwards to include and embrace all cultures of Aotearoa.

The resulting work is built upon the universal values of kaitiakitanga/care, mana/respect and whanaungatanga/inclusion.
